José María Vitier's Music Seduces Bogotá

The extraordinary beauty of José María Vitier's work seduced the Colombian audience that attended his concert and recital at the resumption of musical dialogues between Cuba and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá.

Likewise, the premiere of his work Vitral which is part of Habana Concerto, performed by Cuban pianist Marcos Madrigal, demonstrated the richness of Vitier's compositions, an indispensable artist of the island's culture.

The virtuosity of the two pianists, the special blend of Cuban music sonorities with classical music, the technical brilliance of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá and the Women's Orchestra that is part of this musical movement, were much more than concerts.

They were a gift for the soul, according to the spectators who gave the artists standing ovations time and again and were left wanting to keep listening.

Vitier and Madrigal, the musicians of the Philharmonic of Bogotá under the general direction of David García, and conductors Wilson Hermanto and Paola Ávila became an amalgam of profound interpretative taste by playing masterfully and moving audiences through their playing.

The two pianists proved to be extraordinary, the orchestras supported them at their level, the conductors revealed their strength and passion before pieces full of color and movement.

Madrigal offered Vitral, a piece that traces the sonority of Havana from its earliest years to the present day.

Vitier performed part of his work created for film that has been part of Cuban cultural patrimony for many years because of its innovative elements and that magnificent symbiosis of tumbadora, claves, güiro, with violins, oboes, cellos, among others.

With this gift began the musical encounter that unites the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá with Cuban music and which will continue in the coming days with new presentations that promise, like those of this past weekend, sublime moments.
