Dr. C. Josefina María Vidal Ledo, Outstanding Researcher in the Field of Medical Sciences and Health/Medical Education

The updated listing of the 2024 World Ranking of Scientists (AD Scientific Index) placed Cuban researchers and institutions at the forefront of its classification. Among the scientists recognized is Dr. C. Josefina María Vidal Ledo, a member of the faculty of the National School of Public Health (ENSAP), as an outstanding researcher in the field of Medical Sciences and Health/Medical Education.

Regarding the totality of Cuban scientific production in this field, María Vidal holds the Top 3% in almost all of the indices analyzed in the ranking, which indicates that she is within the 3% of the best scientists in the specified field in Cuba. With respect to her institution, she likewise stands out as the best scientist in several of these indices.

As explained by the Cuban magazine Juventud Técnica on Facebook, this classification and analysis system is based on the research performance and productivity of academic institutions and specialists at the global level.

In this year's listing, the doctors Pedro A. Valdés, from the Center for Neurosciences; the full professor from the University of Havana, René Delgado; and his colleague from the Central University of Las Villas "Marta Abreu," Yovani Marrero, stand out for Cuba.

Among higher education institutions recognized were: the University of Las Tunas, the one in Camagüey "Ignacio Agramonte," the University of Computer Sciences (UCI), the Technological University of Havana "José Antonio Echeverría," while in the field of research the Center for Engineering, Genetics and Biotechnology of this capital stood out.

The World Ranking of Scientists is a study that shows the total and six-year productivity coefficients of scientists based on scores and citations of the h-index and i10 index on Google Scholar. Additionally, the ranking provides the classification and evaluation of scientists by subject and academic fields, as well as in 22,865 universities, 219 countries, regions and in the world, providing not only the ranking results but also their analysis.
