María Teresa Pina and her partner, radio host and presenter Niro de la Rúa, left Cuba for Mexico in 2017 as speech and broadcasting professors. Later they moved to the United States and in Florida both mounted the one-person show La gran tirana, based on the life of Cuban singer La Lupe, which they had been working on since 2010.

Niro served as producer of the show, while she embodied that vocalist who "returns from the dead to recall her journey, her mistakes and her triumphs in the world of entertainment."

Beyond that monologue, little had come to light about the artistic career of the actress from Avila… until a few days ago, when it was confirmed that she will be part of the cast of Crímenes en Miami, a series that will premiere on the online platform Pronyr TV, according to what the website Cubactores published.

The aforementioned site did not specify the date for the audiovisual's debut, which is already beginning to generate expectations due to the presence in the cast of actors such as Armando Tomey, Lily Bergues, whom we last saw in her homeland with the character of Marina in the soap opera Asuntos pendientes, and Alejandro Milián, who has an extensive career on the Cuban theatrical stage and presenter of the program Breves Estaciones, on Canal Habana.

The material will be directed by actor Mauricio Casín, who has been based in the United States for several years and is the son of the unforgettable Orlando Casín. No details about the plot have been revealed.

María Teresa Pina became a recurring face in the Cuban television landscape, thanks to her appearances in soap operas such as El balcón de los helechos, A pesar de todo, ¡Oh, La Habana!, El eco de las piedras, Polvo en el viento and Amores de verano. According to our research, after leaving Cuba she had not returned to a drama on TV.

She also offered her talent to the public in productions such as Memorias de un abuelo, El elegido del tiempo and Enigma de un verano. In cinema she acted in Páginas del diario de Mauricio and La emboscada, among other films, while on stage she shone with Medea, Manteca, Una casa colonial, Santa Camila de La Habana Vieja and several productions that solidified her at the pinnacle of acting in the country.
