Popular Cuban actress Edenis Sánchez is one of the members of the cast of the new production of the opera "Carmen" in Chile.
This musical proposal is taking place at the Municipal Theater of Santiago de Chile, where the artist shares the stage with a cast of more than 100 actors and musicians.
Sánchez has shared details of the process through her social media profiles, where her followers have been able to see her in different costumes from the play and accompanied by some of the artists with whom she shares the stage.
According to what the actress told the CubaActores portal, "the vision of the work 'Carmen' is completely different. The director advocates for a more rebellious and liberal Carmen, questioning why in Chile, with its high femicide rate and its patriarchal history, the idea that a man can possess a woman continues to be defended".
She also elaborated that "this production has a much larger connotation than other versions of 'Carmen'. It invites us to review the rights that women have to be however they want and asks why a woman who loves freely, is rebellious, cheerful, happy and independent, has to be murdered out of jealousy".
On the musical side, the opera will be performed by the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra, which will combine Spanish rhythms with the iconic and seductive Habanera, added the aforementioned portal dedicated to promoting actors from the island.
Sánchez affirmed in her statements that particular care has been taken in the details in all aspects of the work. She specifically pointed out that in the case of the costumes, "the designer is an expert in her field and has made efforts to ensure that each role shines in both its interpretation and its visual appearance".
The actress also reported that all cast members went through a rigorous casting process, a process she described as enriching, while she thanked the artists who accompany her, the director of the staging and all the people who have participated in this production, reported CubaActores.
Edenis Sánchez achieved great popularity in Cuba thanks to her characters in soap operas, films and television programs. A graduate of the ISA University of the Arts, she also stood out in various cultural projects, advertising campaigns and public welfare actions, among others.
