The young Cuban American Juliette Ojeda conquered the jury and audience of the talent competition The Voice in its American edition.
Broadcast by the NBC television network, the well-known program provided a space for the singer to showcase her cultural blend during the performance of the song "Hopelessly Devoted To You" during the blind auditions.
In addition to her powerful voice, Ojeda left the judges and audience speechless by singing the song first in Spanish and then in English with suggestive Latin rhythms.
This is how she managed to get three of the judges to turn their chairs around and try to bring her to their teams, but the young woman ultimately chose singer Gwen Stefani.
Subsequently Juliette reached the battle phase, where she faced her partner Kristen Brown. The result was not the best for the Cuban American, as her coach decided to stay with Brown, leaving her out of the competition.
"You shouldn't have gone home, girl! I hope you can be on Broadway or something someday"; "So beautiful and so incredibly talented"; are some of the comments that admirers of the young woman have left on her social networks.
Precisely Kristen Brown dedicated a post on Instagram showing her gratitude for "having had Juliette Ojeda as my battle partner and how honored I felt to share the stage with her".
Brown thanked Juliette for introducing her to "the INCREDIBLE Cuban food (…) The world has a serious star in its hands. Thank you for being who you are", the message concluded.
Juliette Ojeda, only 20 years old, was born in Miami, daughter of Cuban immigrant parents. She is currently studying musical theater at the Boston Conservatory and as she defines herself on her Instagram profile, she is a "proud first-generation Cuban American".
