The renowned Cuban cartoonist and animator Juan Padrón will inaugurate this Saturday, August 11, at the Servando Cabrera Gallery in the capital, a personal exhibition titled Tan fiero como lo pintan.
At seven in the evening the meeting with the brilliant illustrator, screenwriter and film director from Matanzas, father of jewels of the animated filmography of the Island such as Vampiros en La Habana (1985), will take place.
The exhibition, composed of unpublished drawings by the artist, created from 2000 to the present, will include a series of collateral activities such as talks, workshops and the sale of accessories.
In his long and fruitful career Juan Padrón has stood out as one of the most successful Cuban animation directors, bringing to life unforgettable characters such as Elpidio Valdés, protagonist of comic strips, short films and feature films, which has already surpassed 45 years since its creation.
His work has been characterized by Cubanness and sharp, surrealist humor, reflected in the charming Filminutos (humorous animated series with episodes of only one minute in duration) of his authorship.
On the other hand, the Servando Cabrera Gallery, which belongs to the Empresa Génesis Galerías de Arte, is preparing to participate, from August 29 to September 2, in the Code Art Fair International Contemporary Art Fair, held in the European city of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The institution will participate representing the artists Ángel Ricardo, José Miguel Costa, Osvaldo González and Ricardo Ríos.
Code Art Fair, the only fair of its kind in Scandinavia, aims to showcase contemporary art from the region and the world.
