Famous Cuban actors Jorge Perugorría and Vladimir Cruz have joined forces on a new film project, as announced by the former through his Instagram account. Both artists are participating in the 32nd edition of the Biarritz Latin American Film Festival.

"Movie on the horizon!!! Thanks to the Biarritz Latin American Film Festival, for providing the space for us to come together and create a new project!!!", wrote Perugorría while sharing a photo with Cruz.

Still without further details, the announcement was enough for followers and colleagues to begin wishing both actors the best of luck with the project and also to speculate about what the theme, title, and synopsis would be.

Many of the comments suggested a second part of the iconic film Strawberry and Chocolate. Both actors are precisely at the event attending special screenings of this Cuban classic directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío.

In the stories on Perugorría's profile, it has been possible to observe how the public on the streets of Biarritz has been asking the actor for autographs and talking about the emotions that the aforementioned film still awakens.

He, also director of films such as Fátima or Parque de la Fraternidad, has shared images of encounters with actors, directors and colleagues such as Gael García Bernal, Costa Gavras, among others.

Although Vladimir Cruz and Jorge Perugorría already have several experiences as solo directors, they also share previous history in film co-direction with the piece Affinities, their directorial debut, a feature film in which they also act.

So it is to be assumed that in this new project perhaps the artists will decide to repeat the experience of directing and acting in the same film.

In Biarritz, Perugorría and Cruz were invited to propose a cycle of Cuban comedies in a new section of the film event dedicated to Spanish-speaking audiences. "These are films and directors that have left their mark on the world of cinema with their unique scripts and their ruthless tenderness. The expression of an island that willingly uses laughter and self-mockery to speak of the difficulties of everyday life," explains the program notes.
