Carlo Padial will be in charge of directing the adaptation of his own novel that will begin in Barcelona next March 8th
Just as major national and international platforms did in the past, Spanish Filmin is now launching into its own television series production with the adaptation of the novel "Doctor Portuondo" by Carlo Padial, whose filming will begin next month in Barcelona.
The multifaceted Padial (Barcelona, 1977) will be in charge of directing the adaptation of his own novel which in the series will star Cuban Jorge Perugorría ("Strawberry and Chocolate", "Winds of Havana") and Nacho Sánchez ("Seventeen", "The Ministry of Time").
"The start of production of our first series reaffirms Filmin's commitment to constantly evolving by offering our audience a differentiated and complete offering. The first day of filming 'Doctor Portuondo' marks a new milestone for Filmin, reaching maturity as a platform," said Juan Carlos Tous, founder and CEO of the platform launched in 2010, in a statement published this Monday.
Published in 2017 by Blackie Books, "Doctor Portuondo" is "an amusing regression with autobiographical overtones of the therapy that the protagonist undergoes alongside Dr. Portuondo, a peculiar Cuban psychoanalyst who shouts at his patients, swears in the name of Freud and drinks Johnnie Walker whisky".
Filming will begin in Barcelona on March 8th and the series is expected to be released next October. It is a Filmin production with La Chica de la Curva and will be produced under the Filmin Original label, which will group all of the platform's original productions from now on.
In the opinion of Carlo Padial (director of the comedy "Something Very Fat", starring comedian Berto Romero), this series is a "unique opportunity" to "lie on the couch" of a therapist, "even if only as viewers, through a fiction that helps us understand ourselves and the people we know, always through humor".
