The student of the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) Joel de Jesús Díaz Rodríguez obtained two international awards for his work "Escena nocturna", according to the official Asociación Hermanos Saíz portal.
It is the third place in the competition convened by the Fundación Mons. Sante Montanaro, in the Italian city of Bari; and the same position in the competition organized by the World Piano Teachers Association Argentina.
"When he set out to create the piece, he sought above all to experiment with formal structures that he had been studying", says the AHS.
The young Spiritus native is studying the Composition program at ISA.
"With the same fluidity with which he strikes the piano keys, he briefly describes the work. The Italian jury managed to capture the essence when they selected it from among the nearly 30 pieces that competed from five countries".
For Díaz, "the beginning is meditative, then it gradually becomes more lively until it becomes somewhat aggressive; afterwards, suddenly, it returns to the initial calm, with which it concludes".
According to the official website of La Fundación Mons. Sante Montanaro, the competition comprised two sections: one for piano composition—chosen by Joel de Jesús—and another for chamber ensemble. The performances, recorded in audio or computer-generated, had to last between 10 and 15 minutes.
For its part, WPTA Internacional (World Piano Teachers Association Argentina) is focused on Piano Competitions, Chamber Music with Piano, Piano Composition, Masterclasses, Congresses with Presentations, Recitals and Conferences for Pianists, Composers and Pedagogues.
