It was not the best of afternoons for Hereda San Pablo Burgos, where Cuban Jasiel Rivero plays, quite the opposite of Lenovo Tenerife, which defeated the Burgos team 87-76, in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey basketball tournament of the Spanish ACB league.

The Havana native had the best performance of his team, with a rating of +16 as part of the starting five, the product of 12 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block, in almost 23 minutes on the court at WiZink Center, in Madrid.

The winners defined the game from the three-point line, with 56% accuracy, and a 16-0 run in the middle of the third quarter, which was impossible for Burgos to overcome due to their poor effectiveness from outside shooting, averaging 33%.

In this way, Rivero's performance in this Iberian tournament came to an end, which forces Joan Peñarroya's team to focus on the next stage of the European Basketball Champions League and to continue fighting in the local league, where they are in sixth place after 21 games, with a record of 15-6.

Further east in the Old Continent, fellow Havana native Karel Guzmán maintained his good performance in the Romanian National League, contributing 17 points in Cluj Napoca's victory over Timisoara, thus maintaining the undefeated lead in that tournament.

Guzmán had 30 minutes on the court and led the scorers of his team, with 83.3% in two-point shots, in addition to grabbing five rebounds and assisting his teammates on a couple of occasions, which earned him an efficiency rating of +23.

Another player from the national team, Spiritus native Yoanki Mencía, was removed from the active roster of Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia, in the Argentine National League, due to an injury, according to a statement issued on the South American club's website.
