Cuban basketball player Jasiel Rivero has been invited by the Phoenix Suns to be part of their roster for the NBA Summer League.

Jasiel Rivero will play with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League, as advanced by Greek sports journalist Christos Harpidis, from the European basketball specialized site Totalbasket.gr.

Harpidis asserted that Rivero has also sparked interest from several major European teams.

Participation in the NBA Summer League will be an unbeatable showcase for the 29-year-old wing-pivot, who will be able to display his talent before the eyes of talent scouts and executives of the best basketball in the world.

This is possibly as close as a Cuban has been to joining an NBA team since Lázaro Borrell's foray at the beginning of this century with the Seattle Sonics.

This recognition comes to Rivero after two seasons at an excellent level with Valencia Basket in the Liga Endesa ACB of Spain, the second strongest at the world level. Rivero ranked fifth in the overall standings for Best Latin American of the 2022-23 season.

The former player for Capitalinos de La Habana and teams from Uruguay and Argentina had obtained the Latino MVP of the tournament during his first year in Spanish basketball.
