The prestigious Cuban actresses Jacqueline Arenal, Tahimí Alvariño and Isabel Santos will soon come together in a new film to be directed by Carlos Barba.
"No te puedes morir" is the title of the short film that Barba will dedicate to the theme of family.
The filmmaker revealed to the Cuballama portal that "it will be great to have so much talent in such a short film" and that he is very pleased with the three actresses' identification with the plot.
"They make me sense a sensitivity behind the project, with all the harshness that what we are going to tell carries," he clarified.
According to him, his intention with this film is to close his Filial Fiction Trilogy, which he began with "25 Horas" and continued with "Las Polacas," the latter winning the Special Coral Award from the Jury of the 42nd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.
Barba also wrote the script, which tells "the story of close women who cried out in their silences to tell a fragment of themselves."
"They all carry unfulfilled desires, a difficult stigma to bear and I am sure they will know how to express it very well," he added.
Filming is scheduled for the first half of this year, will take place in Havana and "will have a small moment in Los Angeles," where the filmmaker lives.
"We have already started the table work remotely," a creative process that, according to him, is cooked "slowly and enjoyed."
Barba awaits the premiere of the tribute documentary for the 35th anniversary of the beloved film "Adorables mentiras" and a music video by singer Liuba María Hevia.
