Idalis Ortiz, who arrived at the world competition after achieving the gold medal at the XII Pan American Games in Lima, could not prevail against the emerging Japanese star who is 19 years old and was already the world champion in the mixed team world championship last year.
Cuban judoka Idalis Ortiz obtained the silver medal in the division of over 78 kilograms after falling in the final against Japanese Akira Sone at the World Championship.
The bronze medals went to Turkish Kayra Sayit and also local Sarah Asanhina.
For Cuba, Ortiz's medal was the only prize in the competition that placed it in 13th place, while Japan achieved its fourth title and dominated the competition ahead of France which finished with three and a group of seven nations all with one supremacy.
