On May 12, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Villena hall of the Uneac, a panel will be held in which the work and legacy of Cuban writer, playwright and humorist Enrique Núñez Rodríguez will be evoked, who was vice president of the organization for several years.

According to information provided by Uneac on its website, the panel will be made up of the president of Casa de las Américas, Abel Prieto Jiménez; the José Martí National Journalism Prize winner, Pedro de la Hoz; the popular humorist Kike Quiñones and the Honorary President of the UPEC, Tubal Páez, who will recall emblematic texts by the author of ¡A Guasa a garsín!, Yo vendí mi Bicicleta and Mi vida al desnudo.

Additionally, other intellectuals and friends who shared with him during his professional and personal trajectory will participate.

As part of the activities, the deadline for submitting works for the Enrique Núñez Rodríguez chronicles competition, called jointly by Uneac and the newspaper Juventud Rebelde, extends until May 30.

The humorist was an assiduous collaborator with that media outlet and also with Bohemia magazine. Likewise, for decades he was the author of very popular programs on Cuban radio and television.

Among other distinctions, he was recognized with the Félix Varela Order, the José Martí National Journalism and Humor prizes, as well as the status of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba.

The Uneac tribute, according to PL, is part of the program of activities that will take place in Havana and in his native Quemado de Güines, in the province of Villa Clara.
