Tribute from Leoni Torres to Polo Montañez

Renowned Cuban singer Leoni Torres released a version of the song 'Si fuera mía', one of the most beautiful songs by Polo Montañez. "Si fuera mía is one of the most beautiful songs by Polo Montañez, which I always wanted to sing.

The singer-songwriter from Camagüey has won the hearts of audiences inside and outside Cuba with musical hits such as 'Recordándote', 'Tu mirada', 'Para que un día vuelvas', among others.

Torres, in 1999 joined the Maravillas de Florida orchestra. His work in this group caught the attention of David Calzado, leader of the Charanga Habanera, who proposed that he join as a singer to his orchestra; which he finally joined in 2001, remaining there for 7 years.

During this period he performed duets and projects, achieving success with hits such as 'Soy cubano, Soy popular' and 'Ay! Hay amor'. In 2007 he began his solo career, making his debut the following year with his first individual work with the presentation of the album Bajo la piel (2008). It was published under the label of the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM) and earned him the title of male breakthrough singer of the year in Cuba.

From 2014 onwards he developed not only as a performer, but also as a composer. Examples of this are the songs: 'Traidora', a song of his authorship performed by Marc Anthony and Gente de Zona, with international success, and 'Para que un día vuelvas', a work he shares as a duet with Pablo Milanés. Likewise, other songs such as 'Soledad' and 'Amor Bonito' became well-known. The latter recorded by Rey Ruiz and also by Charlie Aponte, former member of the Puerto Rican group Gran Combo, who Sergio George produced.

2020 began for Leoni Torres with the release of 'Deja la tristeza' and his song 'Recordándote' with urban musician El Micha has also become well-known. This single was produced by Daneon, a Colombian music producer who has worked with Marc Anthony, Will Smith, Enrique Iglesias, among others.
