October 28, 2022

Jennifer López shared a video on her social networks Thursday night to recall one of her most iconic performances. In 2013, the Diva of the Bronx dominated the American Music Awards with a tribute to Cuban singer Celia Cruz.

"Life is a Carnival… #Dale #CeliaCruz #TBT", wrote JLo alongside the recording where she performs a medley of the most emblematic songs by the Queen of Salsa, such as Quimbara, Life is a Carnival, and Bemba Colorá. The post accumulated more than 375 thousand reactions in just a few hours and currently has more than eight thousand comments.

Among the many messages that can be read in the artist's Instagram post stand out: "Let me go practice my salsa", "One of the favorite performances in history! And you have A TON OF GREAT PERFORMANCES", "So Beautiful and talented❤Always representing the Latina woman in her maximum splendor. Really one of our divas" or "ONE OF YOUR BEST SHOWSSSSS I LOVE ITTTTT".

Jennifer López was one of the great protagonists of that awards ceremony held in Los Ángeles in which she paid tribute to the legendary Cuban artist, undoubtedly an impressive performance in which she showed her Latin heritage and power to win all the applause.

Almost ten years after that magical evening, JLo wanted to remember that special tribute in which she had several costumes and captured all the attention from the stage.

Before ending her performance, the singer born in New York shouted: "Long live Celia!", before an audience on its feet and captivated by her. Her show also included the characteristic "Sugar", from the Cuban rumba singer.

Cuban singer Celia Cruz passed away in July 2003 in New Jersey, and almost twenty years later she continues to be an inspiration for many artists and her songs are still heard everywhere in the world, as an example of Cuban music.
