Franco-Cuban twin sisters Naomi and Lisa-Kaindé Díaz, from the musical duo "Ibeyi" modeled this week for the famous fashion magazine "Vogue". The performers wore outfits by Valentino and Alexander McQueen.
"These days, evening wear is full of strong shapes, wonderfully out-of-control proportions and black tie suits filled with jewels", read the page of the magazine where the girls of Cuban origin were shown.
With a black and white photo by Autumn de Wilde, the magazine said of the singers: "As the twin musicians Naomi and Lisa-Kaindé Diaz of Ibeyi skillfully demonstrate, where jackets are required, a bright accessory is very useful".
Singer Naomi (left) wore a Valentino Haute Couture jacket, while Lisa-Kaindé wore an Alexander McQueen dress and a silver choker. Something that summed up Vogue's idea for evenings this spring, where "the new formal is not so formal at all".
The sisters, daughters of the famous Cuban percussionist Miguel Angá Díaz, also move in the world of major runways and have worn designs by greats in that world like Karl Lagerfeld. They have also participated in shows at prestigious fashion weeks, such as Paris.
Ibeyi (twins, in Yoruba), is a duo made up of Franco-Cuban twins Lisa-Kaindé Díaz and Naomi Díaz that has risen to popularity in recent years for their songs in which they mix traditional African chants with techno or electronic rhythms.
The duo's latest album was Ash from 2017. Some specialized press in the United States has described Ibeyi's musical novelty as "a huge and heavy psychedelic soul track".
They have toured some of the major capitals of Europe and Latin America, recorded at the studio where British Adele began and have been praised by Beyoncé and Michelle Obama, among other famous figures.
