Haydeé Milanes performed at the Lunario of the Auditorio Nacional de México

June 3, 2019

Approximately 500 to 600 people enjoyed the concert offered by Haydée Milanés last Thursday the 30th at the Lunario of the National Auditorium of Mexico. Four times, after the concert ended, those present began to chant "Another, Another, Another", and Haydée had to please them.

The young Cuban singer moved with ease among the most varied genres, and the audience applauded with vehemence each performance; with special moments of applause and shouts of joy when she sang "Unicornio", by Silvio Rodríguez; and "El breve espacio en que no estás", by Pablo Milanés.

Those present appreciated so much devotion from Haydée on stage, a place that seemed complex to fill but that turned out to be small for the followers of this artist who recently released her album "Amor Deluxe"; a double album, as the artist has explained, in which she sings alongside her father several songs; and she also does so alongside outstanding figures of Hispanic-American songwriting such as Julieta Venegas, Fito Páez, Chico Buarque, Omara Portuondo and Joaquín Sabina. Two of the artists who collaborated in the making of this album accompanied Haydée on stage. They were Rosalía León and Edgar Oceransky. The great absentee was Pancho Céspedes, who was expected to perform at the Lunario.

About this album Haydée said to the Mexican newspaper La Razón: "It arises from the need to delve deeper into my father's work: songs with which I grew up, that I saw being born, that shaped me musically and humanly. With them I learned to sing in tune, to understand music."

The Lunario was packed from the first row to the last, and in the audience were present renowned personalities, such as Michael Nyman, musician and author of the award-winning film The Piano (1993); and the most recent Oscar winner: "The Green Book", who described Haydée's voice as "amazing".

Also present was Andrea Toscano, Miss Mexico 2018 and representative of the Aztec country to the Miss Universe 2018 contest; among other personalities from Mexican radio and TV.

Haydée was accompanied on the night by: Enrique Pla (drums), José Raúl Machado (bass), Dayron Ortiz (guitar), Jorge Coayo (percussion)
