Cuba's Recording and Musical Editions Company (Egrem) confirmed that to celebrate Children's Day on July 19, it will release a children's album by Haila María Mompié.
The album—the artist's tenth and titled A Song to the Smile—brings together 10 songs by native composers such as Kiki Corona, Rosa Campos, Jorge del Valle, Yolanda Quintero, Aned Mota, and Carlos A Cartaya.
The songs feature very lively Cuban rhythms, including salsa, cha-cha-cha, conga, changüí, mozambique, pilón; they also include danzón and habanera.
For Haila, this new production is a debt she had with herself since she wanted to give this gift to children a long time ago.
Two singles from the album: M with a, n with i and Numbers that Jump, have already premiered with music videos on digital platforms, which will be used starting July 19 for the promotion of the complete album.
The work in general consists of a CD-DVD that features the Diminuto Choir and guests on two songs: María Claudia Hernández in The Party of Uncle Sunflower and Keyla Morera and Raúl Ernesto Pérez in When I Grow Up.
At the end of 2018, Haila released the album With All Respect, in which she sings 11 songs by composer Armando Manzanero that combine the Mexican's romantic tone and her Cuban salsa, one of the great soneras of this Caribbean island.
