Singer Haila María Mompié and her group performed a concert last Sunday the 21st starting at 11:00 p.m. at the Benny Moré Hall, in the City of Parks, as part of the summer cultural offerings in the province of Holguín.
The presentation by the so-called "Diva of the People" is part of the national tour that, on the occasion of the summer season, is sponsored by the Artistic and Literary Promotions Company (Artex), marking its 30th anniversary.
At Sunday's concert, the popular singer shared some of the hits from her eighth album, "With All Respect Haila Sings Armando Manzanero," in which she pays tribute to that legend of Mexican romantic music, and also performed some of her most well-known musical hits.
Last summer Haila and her group also delighted the Holguín public, in the vicinity of Calixto García stadium, for approximately two hours, in a massive concert sponsored by the Union of Communist Youth.
Haila María Mompié is currently regarded as one of the great Cuban interpreters, a faithful exponent of Son, a musical genre created on our Island and recognized throughout the world.
About her, critic and journalist Pedro de la Hoz stated: "As for Haila Mompié, that girl who made waves with Bamboleo, it must be said how her powerful voice and her spirited presence on stage ignite the liveliest fervor."
