February 23, 2021

Delights with Honey is one of the titles from the Artechef publishing house nominated for the important Gourmand Prize, recognized as the most important international award in that literature.

Conceived as a duo by professionals Geysis Pérez Santos and Héctor Jiménez, the volume was launched at the 2020 International Book Fair, with significant success.

Delights with Honey contains about twenty recipes in which the popular product is combined with fruits, root vegetables, and Cuban vegetables, something novel.

We spoke with the talented pastry chef to learn details about this and three other titles in which she is involved.

"I have just received the news of the nomination for these awards, the most important ones for culinary and gastronomic literature. They are recognized as the Oscars of cooking," she commented.

Delights with Honey represents Cuban cuisine in the competition to which volumes from 98 countries have arrived, which makes its presence among the contenders more significant.

"It is a very tight competition, but with all the love, effort, and dedication we have put into it, I hope it has a happy ending, although it is a very important achievement to be nominated," she pointed out.

Artechef has been in very good positions among publishers worldwide for nearly four years, which is why many cooking professionals from Cuba have obtained this award, for example, in 2020 Salseando con el Chef and ¿Qué cocinaré hoy?

The interviewee also made reference to the presence of Cuban women in these awards, commenting as follows:

"For some time now, the theme of women as an example of courage, drive, and eagerness in cooking has been imposing itself, and in the literary field we have also been represented, for example, by chef Yamilet Madariño, among others."

This is the second volume in which the young entrepreneur participates, who incorporates into her culinary creations the knowledge acquired in her studies of craftsmanship.

"My first book was ¡Qué dulces!, I presented it at the 2017 Book Fair, and its edition sold out very quickly.

For the future, I am involved in a collective of authors preparing Siempre la Miel, a project that makes me very happy since I share it with five prestigious colleagues, among whom Eddy Fernández Monte stands out, president of the Culinary Federation of Cuba.

For me it is very important to participate and share experiences with these other artists of Cuban cooking.

It is worth noting that these three volumes have been released under the Artechef publishing label.

But the creativity of this international chef does not stop, and her fourth literary production is already almost ready, this time conceived solo and with a distinctive element.

"My fourth volume will be released by Ediciones Cubanas publishing house, and what makes it different is that it will not be a pastry book, it will be purely cooking, its title is Cocina casera cubana and it is already in the process of printing in Spain.

"Let's hope it arrives in Cuba soon so we can make it available to the national public."
