François Hollande, former president of France, received the Historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal, this Wednesday in Paris, according to diplomatic sources.
During the meeting, the positive official visit made by the then French leader to Cuba in May 2015 was recalled, an occasion in which he was able to tour historic sites in Old Havana, accompanied by Leal.
The meeting made it possible to reiterate recognition of former president Hollande for his personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations, which continue to deepen at present.
Both personalities highlighted the historical and cultural ties between both nations.
In 2013, Leal received the rank of commander of the Order of the Legion of Honor, France's highest decoration, in a ceremony in Havana attended by the president of the French senate, Jean Pierre Bel.
