THE opening of the Teatro Ciudad Event in Camagüey had as its incentive the meeting of renowned actress Verónica Lynn with students from artistic education centers.

Precisely the National Council of Performing Arts wanted to pay homage to the work of more than half a century of the 2003 National Theater Prize winner, who also shared with artists and professionals dedicated to the art of the stage, in a region that harbors an important wealth for Cuban culture and the formation of its own identity.

Teatro Ciudad Event arrives as a variant of the Cuban Theater Festival, which was interrupted by the pandemic and which traditionally takes place in this region, and in its main plazas, especially in those theaters located in the Historic Center, World Heritage Site.

"I am very happy to be in this city, for me it is an honor," is how Lynn began her lecture "Stanislavskian Experiences," in a space reserved at the Vicentina de la Torre Academy of the Arts, minutes after enjoying the exhibition "From Saffron to the Lily," on scenic design by artist Jesús Ruiz.

It is worth noting that Teatro Ciudad takes place amid the Villanueva Event that extends throughout the country from January 13 to 29, a gathering that also pays tribute to Lynn, and her outstanding work as founder of the Trotamundos group.

In her remarks she also made reference to the legacy transmitted by playwright Konstantín Stanislavski, in her beginnings on the stage, especially with her role in the work Santa Camila de La Habana Vieja, "because she also represents Cuban women, because she loves her saints and her partner, and that also forms part of our identity as human beings," she reflected.

With an artistic life that began in the 1950s of the last century, Lynn also made reference to the values of Cuban theater, and several of its most important exponents that were crucial in her formation.

Kenny Ortigas, president of the Council of Performing Arts in Camagüey, stated that "the city is dressed up for the occasion also with the presence of Gerardo Fulleda León, also a National Theater Prize winner, a lecture for new generations."

For the opening date today the 20th, the Plaza del Gallo located in the heart of the city, will host the presentation of the Theatrical Dance Company "La Andariega."

For its part, at the Principal Theater of this city, the presentation of the work "Symphony Con-De-Nada," will be together with the Camagüey Symphonic Orchestra, in a show that will be directed by the director of the Humor Promoter Center, Kike Quiñones.

In the first days, presentations by prestigious dance companies are also expected, such as the Contemporary Ballet of Camagüey, and the Folkloric Ballet of this city, the latter with more than three decades since its founding.
