Cuban journalist Pedro Pablo Figueredo Rodríguez passed away last Tuesday in La Habana at the age of 68 due to coronavirus, reported Radio Habana Cuba.
"With infinite sorrow, the Radio Habana Cuba team informs of the death of journalist Pedro Pablo Figueredo Rodríguez as a consequence of COVID-19 complications," states a note from radio station CMHW.
Likewise, they took the opportunity to send their condolences to family, friends and colleagues, especially to his wife, Cuban actress Nila Sánchez.
Pedro Pablo Figueredo was originally from Minas, Camagüey. During his long career in the press media in Cuba, his work as director of Radio Rebelde and Radio Arte stands out.
He also served as subdirector of Radio Progreso, journalist at Prensa Latina and was currently serving as director of the informative magazine Desde Mi Habana, of Radio Habana Cuba.
On the other hand, on social networks you can read messages of grief from friends and colleagues of the distinguished journalist.
"I thought he would escape death once again, but this time it couldn't be. I just found out that a great worker of our Radio Habana Cuba has died from COVID 19, a great human being, Pedro Pablo Figueredo Rodríguez, 'Figuere' to those closest to him," wrote reporter Raúl Rodríguez.
"A terrible loss for Radio Habana Cuba. On a personal level, one of my mentors and a good friend left us! How much longer will this pandemic continue to cause harm! You will wait for us in infinity Pedro Pablo Figueredo," said communicator Guillermo Alvarado.
