October 16, 2023

The prominent colleague from Villa Clara television Luis Evidio Martínez Díaz passed away in Santa Clara on October 15th, at the age of 65.

A graduate with a degree in Journalism in 1991, he was recognized for his professional work and as a mentor to several generations of journalists at the Telecubanacán broadcast center.

The team recognized this through their official Facebook page:

"He left us, and for many he was more than a colleague, he was a father and a friend, the brother always present, the first to approach and extend his hand.

"Luis Evidio left us, the teacher of so many, 'the old curmudgeon' who taught us so much, the one who never gave up in the face of closed doors, in the face of difficulties, the one who faced the windmills so many times, like Don Quixote, above all else, to inform.

"He said goodbye to us when he still had so much to give us, he who guided a few of us down the path of this: the best profession in the world.

"We know he fought like a warrior until the very last minute, as he always did, but the battle was more difficult than his strength.

"To his beloved Hilda, all our support and a hug from the entire team. Rest in peace Luis, keep accompanying us always".

Luis Evidio, affectionately known as "the old curmudgeon," was the teacher of many. He taught us valuable lessons and never gave up in the face of difficulties. Like Don Quixote, he faced windmills to inform and educate.

Although he said goodbye to us when he still had so much to give us, his legacy endures. He guided us down the path of what he considered the best profession in the world.

We know he fought like a warrior until the very last minute. However, the battle was more difficult than his strength.
