General of Division Leonardo Andollo Valdéz Passed Away

General of Division of the Reserve Leonardo Ramón Andollo Valdéz has passed away. He joined the FAR through the Revolutionary National Militias, holding different responsibilities and reaching the position of deputy chief of the General Staff, General Chief of Operations", published the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces on the social network X.

Andollo Valdés joined the FAR through the Revolutionary National Militias and, in July 1961, became involved in the engineering specialty of the General Staff.

In the institution he served as chief of the Combat Preparation and Operations Section of the Engineering Directorate; Chief of Staff of the Engineering Command; Chief of the Engineering Section of the Western Army; Deputy Chief and Chief of the Engineering Directorate and Deputy Chief of the General Staff and Chief of the Operations Directorate.

As an officer of the FAR, he advanced from the rank of soldier to General of Division.

He carried out an internationalist mission in the Republic of Ethiopia, participating directly in different military operations.

He was a member of the Communist Party of Cuba and a deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power in several legislatures.

He maintained constant concern for his professional development, graduating from the courses: Basic for Officers, Advanced Academic, Command and Strategic Operational General Staff at the Voroshilov Military Academy, which allowed him to make important contributions to the structural and functional improvement of the FAR and its military doctrine.

Throughout his career, he was awarded different decorations, among which stand out the order For Service to the Fatherland of Second Degree and order For High Merits in the Defense of the Socialist Fatherland, granted by the Ethiopian Government; the medals For Exemplary Service in the FAR, For the Strengthening of Combat Fraternity, First Class Internationalist Combatant, For the Cuba-Ethiopia Victory, among others.

At the time of his death, he was carrying out tasks with the Government of the Republic of Cuba.

His body was cremated and his ashes will be displayed at the Pantheon of the Veterans of the Necrópolis de Colón, on Monday, May 6, between nine and eleven in the morning. From there the funeral procession will depart toward the Pantheon of the FAR, where the military honors ceremony will be held.
