Cuban actor Félix Pérez Ortiz passed away at 88 years old

Last Tuesday, April 15, Félix Pérez Ortiz passed away, one of the most venerated actors of the Cuban artistic scene, at 88 years of age. The performer, born on August 30, 1936 in Santiago de Cuba, left an imperishable legacy in theater, radio, television, and national cinema.

Félix Pérez Ortiz began his artistic career in the 1960s, joining the Santiago Theater Group and working in dramatic programs on Radio CMKC. He was one of the founders of the Academy of Dramatic Art directed by Argentine Adolfo Gutkin and a prominent member of the Dramatic Ensemble of the East. His participation in numerous theatrical works, serials, and films consolidated him as an emblematic figure of Cuban culture.

Throughout his career, he received multiple recognitions for his artistic trajectory, including the title of Artist of Merit from the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) and the National Television Prize in 2019.

Today, the Cuban art world mourns the departure of a man who dedicated his life to enriching our culture. His passion, dedication, and talent will remain alive in each one of his performances and in the hearts of those who knew and admired him.
