Pedro Lazo Torres, president of the Islamic League of Cuba, passed away on March 31st at the age of 68 years, due to the worsening of the chronic kidney failure he suffered from.
Lazo, founder and main driving force behind the creation of the Islamic League in the country, always maintained a revolutionary conduct, supporting and accompanying the just demands of the Cuban people, among which stand out the struggle for the return of the Five Heroes and against the blockade of Yankee imperialism against our homeland.
He was an ecumenical religious leader, with very active participation within the Cuban Interreligious Platform, standing out in the fight against terrorism and fundamentalism, for peace and for interreligious dialogue.
