The renowned director and screenwriter María de los Ángeles Núñez Jauma died on the afternoon of July 25 as a result of a heart attack at La Covadonga hospital in Havana, reported through its profile on Facebook the Havana Theater Center.

Born in Havana on March 9, 1966, she began her career as a Direction Assistant at the Institute of Radio and Television in 1984.
Notable in her extensive work are the television plays The Old House, Andoba, and In Private with the Queen, the latter inspired by the famous Celeste Mendoza. Likewise the theatrical productions The Last Bolero and Weekend in Bahía.
Throughout her career her works have received numerous national and international awards and recognition, especially in the Caracol and Caricatos Film, Radio and Television Competitions of the Union of Artists and Writers of Cuba, UNEAC, for her work in children's programs, dramatic works and theatrical and cinematographic projects, standing out for her versatility and contribution to Cuban culture.
Actress Luisa María Jiménez expressed her shock on
social media: "María de los Ángeles Núñez Jauma has just left us, my beloved 'Maribel'... death is merciless (...) I didn't have time for anything; I wake up and suddenly the news. Goodbye dear Maribel, you are in the air, on the earth, on the line of the horizon, in me... Do you know that I love you?".
From the Teatro La Proa group they also mourned the loss. They recalled that Núñez Jauma recorded two of her works for Cuban Television (TVC) within the children's series Retablo de sueños: Cinderella and Mowgli, the One Bitten by Wolves.
