At midday on November 4th, prominent cultural manager Sareska Escalona Talavera passed away in Havana, an essential name in the promotion of music and the best of Cuban Culture to the world.
Active at eighty years old, Escalona Talavera maintained her role as president and producer of Tomeguín, an entity based in Mexico, from which she fostered artistic exchanges between two nations already united by their history. It is a Mexican company dedicated to the promotion and representation of artists and the production of events.
From a very young age, Sareska was linked to the Ministry of Culture, where she worked in various institutions such as the Cuban Institute of Music, the Karl Marx Theater of which she was director for more than a decade, the Artistic Tours Agency, the Symphony Orchestra; the Pablo Milanés Foundation; among other entities of artistic representation.
Sareska has been in this last stage the patroness of Bar Antonia in Havana.
The Culture of her Homeland and the Cuban Revolution were her two great passions, and she always gave herself to them coherently and passionately until the last days of her existence.
