Brigadier General Juan Israel Cervantes Tablada Dies

The military honors ceremony at the funeral of Brigadier General Juan Israel Cervantes Tablada was held this Friday at the Pantheon of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), in the Colón necropolis.

At the posthumous tribute, floral offerings were laid in the name of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

In attendance were members of the Political Bureau, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister; Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, Minister of the FAR; as well as other members of the Political Bureau and the Government, along with senior chiefs of the FAR and the Minint, directors and workers of the Union of Military Industries (UIM); family members and friends.

In the farewell remarks, Brigadier General Roberto Viciana Mousset, head of the Minfar department, highlighted the fruitful career in service of the Homeland, the people and the FAR of General Cervantes, who until his final moments maintained a high sense of honor and revolutionary morale.

He added that, since 2009, he was appointed general director of the UIM, where he achieved significant results in his management. In this responsibility he contributed to the realization of strategic projects for the country, to the maintenance of the vitality of the National Electrical System, support to the Institute of Hydraulic Resources and to the ministries of Public Health, Food Industry, Transportation and Agriculture, as well as other branches of the national economy. All of this facilitated effective responses to the needs of National Defense.

For his accumulated merits and tireless work as a man seasoned by his work, the President of the Republic approved granting him, posthumously, the honorific title of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba.

The life and work of Brigadier General Juan Israel Cervantes Tablada constitute an example of modesty, honesty, unlimited dedication to his profession, to the FAR and to the Revolution, to which he united infinite loyalty to the Commandant in Chief and to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.
