Ana Navarro, Cuba's first female specialist in Endocrinology, dies in Santiago de Cuba

The Infomed portal in Santiago de Cuba reports the death at age 84 of pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Ana Navarro Lautén, Second-Degree Specialist in Pediatrics, Professor Emeritus, Full Professor and Consultant at the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba.

Dr. Navarro, affectionately called Anita by her family, friends, collaborators and closest colleagues, was the first woman to graduate in this specialty from the Institute of Endocrinology of Cuba.

She possessed solid scientific training, which allowed her to actively develop her work in patient care, teaching and research at the hospitals "Dr. Antonio María Béguez César" and "Juan de la Cruz Martínez Maceira", working at the latter and dedicating all her knowledge, work and infinite love for children.
