After a long illness, Juan Dufflar Amel passed away at his home in the Cuban capital at the age of 86. He was a journalist for the weekly Trabajadores and founder of Mesa Redonda and the Cubadebate website.
Dufflar was a specialist in Middle Eastern issues, a region to which he was bound by ties of blood and whose anti-colonial struggles he devoted most of his tireless journalistic work to.
Mesa Redonda and Cubadebate accompany his family in their grief over his loss, and especially his daughter Marianela, also a regular contributor to these two media outlets. At the family's request, the body will be cremated.
