The son of Antolín El Pichón dies in Cuba

The Cuban humorist Antolín El Pichón has thanked social media for the numerous messages received after the sad news of his son Dayán García Menéndez's death was made public.

The comedian, who is in Miami, has shared a message on his Facebook profile in which he thanks everyone for all the support and expressions of affection he has received after his son's passing from both internet users and media outlets.

"Thank you to all the people and digital platforms for your support during what I am going through, on behalf of myself and my family," wrote El Guajiro de Manacas.

"The hardest blow a father can receive, my condolences to you and your entire family," "Stay strong guajiro, a hug, we love you," "My sincerest condolences, it has been a very hard blow, much strength," "It is immense pain my friend. May God give you strength and mercy. Rest in peace your little son," "We support you and love you very much, stay strong," and "Very sad news but stay strong, here you will always have a people who loves and admires you," are some of the messages that have reached the humorist after posting his words.

In recent hours, both followers of Antolín El Pichón and colleagues from the island's artistic circle have taken to social media to show their distress and offer their condolences to the artist during this difficult time.

Presenter Carlos Otero, with whom he has maintained a close relationship since both shared together on the program Sabadazo, sent him strength in a sad tribute yesterday.

Comedian Gustavito, his great friend, was very affected on his Facebook account and wrote: "Very sad what is happening to El Guajiro, I say this because I am witnessing right now how it feels, I am here by his side for whatever he needs, now without words."

Actor Alexis Valdés and humorists Luis Silva, Ulises Toirac and Marcos García were some of the latest artists to join the chain of condolences with messages they sent to Antolín El Pichón through their virtual profiles.

Dayán died in Cuba due to leukemia and digestive sepsis.
