Scientist Dr. Carlos Gutiérrez Calzado, former director of BioCubaFarma and the National Center for Scientific Research, passes away

On Wednesday, December 28, Dr. Carlos Gutiérrez Calzado, a renowned scientist in the Cuban biopharmaceutical sector, passed away in the early morning hours. In the final years of his working life (2012-2017), he served as president of BioCubaFarma and previously as general director of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC).

He was a member of the Central Committee of the Party and a delegate to the Second, Fourth, and Fifth Congresses of the Communist Party of Cuba and a Deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power.
