Dr. Roque Roque, Renowned Cuban Gynecologist-Obstetrician, Passes Away

The distinguished Cuban physician Roque Roque Frías, a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, passed away this Monday in Havana.

The Facebook profile Ginecobs2019 reported the death of the renowned doctor and offered condolences to his family and friends.

Roque Roque Frías was born on September 27, 1936 in Guara, Melena del Sur, in the current province of Mayabeque. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in April 1962. He had a successful professional career and is recognized as one of the most illustrious health professionals in Cuban public health.

He directed several medical institutions in different provinces of the country. Among them the Maternity Hospital "Eusebio Hernández Pérez", known as Maternidad Obrera; the Regional Health Directorate of Centro Habana; and the Regional Health Directorate of Marianao. He was also the Provincial Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the former Province of Havana.

He currently worked at the General Teaching Hospital "Enrique Cabrera" (National Hospital). He received multiple national and international honors and recognitions.

Roque Roque Frías is the author of several books on gynecology and obstetrics and has numerous publications in specialized journals in Cuba and abroad. His best-known work is El Libro de Mamá.
