Siboney Studios in Santiago de Cuba records tribute album to Juan Almeida

At the Siboney Studios of Egrem, in Santiago de Cuba, "Desde el alma" is being recorded, a tribute album on the occasion of the 94th birthday of Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque, creator of the emblematic cultural institution in July 1980.

Original idea of Juana de los Cuetos and Marcos Campins, the phonogram features eight songs, six authored by the prolific composer and two dedicated to him, following his death in September 2009: "Así te recordamos Comandante" (instrumental) and "A mi viejo."

Under the production of Santiagueros Ricardo Leyva and Fernando Dewar, "Desde el alma" contains titles such as "A Rosario," "Diana" and "María del Carmen," evidence of his devotion to the feminine figure and the artistic sensitivity that always characterized him.

Leyva detailed the inclusion of the songs "Si se pudiera" and "Son homenaje," which will be performed by the guitar trio Romance and musicians from the ten groups that make up the Son de Cuba Agency, respectively.

Likewise, he expressed satisfaction at participating in an effort that, in addition to paying tribute to one of the important figures in national history, continues the celebration of four decades of the materialization of his transformative project of the cultural landscape of the East and the entire country: the Siboney Studios.

Máximo Espinosa and Iván Salas once again bring professionalism and talent to the recording of the album, which is expected to be released on February 17th, the birthday of Juan Almeida.

For that date, the music video "El traguito," a song included in JG's most recent album, "Llevo la música en el alma," will premiere.

Similarly, the seventh edition of the Siboney newspaper will be presented, which for some years has been promoting the work of this Santiago de Cuba center.

With this program, the Siboney Studios remember from and with the soul the 94 years of its founder: musician Commander Juan Almeida Bosque.
