World Premieres at the Usual Symphonic Concert of the Teatro Nacional de Cuba

June 15, 2018

The director Daiana García conducted the National Symphony Orchestra last Sunday, June 10, in its usual morning concert held in the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba.

The program featured as its main attractions two premieres: the world premiere of Lontana, by composer José Víctor Gavilondo; and the national premiere of Concerto for Jazz Clarinet and Orchestra by award-winning Argentine Jorge Calandrelli, with the participation of young clarinetist Alejandro Calzadilla García in the role of soloist.

The second part featured pianist Aldo López-Gavilán, who performed Maurice Ravel's Concerto in G, and then performed the work Pan con timba, of his own authorship.

In both performances the talented Cuban musician was supported by the symphonic ensemble under García's baton.
