The premiere of the documentary: Sueño de Isla (2022) will take place this Saturday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Charles Chaplin cinema in the capital.
This film made by Rolando Almirante constitutes an overview of the professional career of musician Gerardo Alfonso, who has done much for Cuban culture.
"Almost all of his songs are part of the soundtrack of our daily lives. He has been contributing with his art for more than 40 years and he already deserved a film like this," Almirante emphasized.
Likewise, he commented that his film emerged after several years of friendship and work between Gerardo and himself.
"From our interactions Sueño de Isla was born as a tribute portrait to Alfonso, an artistic creed and also a critical look at our society," he explained.
For his part, the performer of "Sábanas blancas" thanked the filmmaker—and his friend—as well as his film crew.
"Everyone was super kind and professional with me. Without Rolando and the others, this audiovisual product that has me so satisfied could not have been realized," he commented.
Finally, Gerardo invited everyone to the concert that will take place after the screening, which will be a true luxury since he will perform with his two sons.
From July 13 to 17, at the Multicine Infanta, those interested will be able to enjoy Sueño de Isla.
