June 14, 2018

The Che Guevara Study Center and Ocean Films premiere this June 14 in the city of Santa Clara the documentary "Ernesto Che Guevara: pages of a life" with unpublished images of the universal revolutionary and the testimony of his companion Aleida March de la Torre.

Through the titles published in the Ernesto Che Guevara Editorial Project over the last 15 years, the documentary presents the most transcendent themes of his intellectual and life legacy and how they have been organized and edited with the intention of leaving the Che's system of thought as a work to new generations.

The audiovisual begins with a fragment of the speech by the then Minister of Industry of Cuba at the first United Nations Conference on Trade and Development held in Geneva in March 1964. These images were rescued from the archive of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Arts (ICAIC) and now, for the first time, are exhibited in a documentary production.

The director of the Che Guevara Study Center, Aleida March, recalls how that institution emerged, what is the purpose of the editorial project that has already published more than thirty books, as well as the special relationship that always united Fidel and the Che until today.

Many other interviewees, from the visual arts, literature, design, historical research, the publishing world, even social networks, comment on the value of the work and life of Ernesto Che Guevara.

The appreciations of the Director of Casa de las Américas, writer Roberto Fernández Retamar; of the visual artist and curator Lesbia Vent Dumois; of the Che's daughter, Aleida Guevara; as well as of doctor María del Carmen Ariet, coordinator of the Editorial Project and of the president of Ocean Sur and Ocean Press, David Deutschmann, stand out.

The documentary Ernesto Che Guevara: pages of a life has been directed by Ernesto Bosch, following the script and interviews by journalist Daily Pérez Guillén. Cubavisión Internacional, the channel where its creators work, also premieres it this June 14.
