Cuban troubadour Pablo Milanés said goodbye to 2020 with a new hopeful song about the pandemic. Cuban troubadour Pablo Milanés published on the last night of 2020 his new song "Waiting for the Miracle," which invites deep reflection on the tragic pandemic ravaging the planet. The artist wanted to publish "Waiting for the Miracle" on Thursday, December 31st on his YouTube channel as a musical epilogue to everything suffered and felt in 2020.
The musical and thematic structure of the song alludes to a prayer, a plea or supplication with religious evocations that invites meditation on a future that, despite everything, the musician wants to feel hopeful about. "I have done what I know how to do, a song, and I wanted to bring it close to religiosity, because everyone, in the desire to save themselves, in the fear that exists around everything that is happening, the tragedy that the planet is experiencing…rather prays than thinks," said the Cuban.
The singer-songwriter added: "I wanted to make this song as if it were a prayer in the manner of the Catholic Our Father, as if it were a mass divulged by a Pope, by a priest, by a babalao, by any guide of any religion...."
I believe that the miracle can be translated in different ways and the miracle, in this case, is translated in the way that peoples, countries, rulers can work to make everything function better, to make healthcare function better, to make science function better, all of that can result in a miracle for humanity".
