In the living room of his house as a primary measure to combat COVID-19, Cuban Erick Hernández set a Guinness world record in ball mastery, hitting the ball 188 times with just his head for 30 seconds, in a standing position.

Although the conditions were quite different from his previous attempts, as he did it in a much smaller space, the so-called Habanero Dominator broke his own world record of 187 touches to the ball established in 2011, which appears officially recognized in the renowned Guinness Book of Records.

This attempt, broadcast live by Canal Habana Deportes, was overseen by three Cuban international referees including Irazema Aguilera, who holds the highest FIFA category, which is why it can be officially validated.

I trained a couple of hours daily for several months, and the fundamental work was with ball control, although I worked a lot on abdominal exercises, flexibility, jogging in place, planks, jumps and alternating ball mastery with my feet, Erick said via telephone to the Cuban News Agency.

I also prepared a lot the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which suffers a lot during these head tests, asserted the Dominator, who dedicated the achievement to the doctors and health personnel who are making an effort these days to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Cuba and the world.

Erick assured the ACN that the training he performed in a smaller space, with less lighting than when he made his world record attempts before the pandemic, will be very useful to him for when, once it is eliminated, he returns to competition with the expected presence of the public.
