Without major setbacks despite the uncomfortable challenge, Cuban Erick Hernández broke his previous world record today for ball control, in the modality of solo with the head from a seated position.
At the Roc Barlovento hotel, in the beautiful beach resort of Varadero, the Havana-based ball dominator kept the ball under control for 1:02.05 hours, surpassing the time of 1:00.59 hours that he set as a world record on October 26, 2018, at the Havana Hotel Iberostar Parque Central.
It was very difficult because, really, I didn't believe the most ideal conditions were in place for me to acclimate well to the venue. It was the first time I attempted a record outside of my habitat in Havana and the black ceiling threw me off quite a bit, Erick commented exclusively to ACN.
For this attempt I worked on long-distance running at over 10 kilometers and strengthened all muscle groups from the neck to the calves, passing through the quadriceps and femoral biceps, as well as the abdominals, upper and lower back, he commented.
The Havana-based ball dominator explained that he also worked on the trapezius and made special emphasis on strengthening the sternocleidomastoid, a muscle that suffers a lot in this record.
My next world record attempt will be dominating the sphere with only my thighs, but with 1.5 kilograms of weight tied to my ankles, Erick concluded.
