IN VIDEO: Premiere of Video Clip "No hacen falta alas"

The music video for the song No Hacen Falta Alas, by virtuoso Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez, will premiere today. Tonight, after the Cuban Television News broadcast, the material will appear on screen, directed by filmmaker Alejandro Pérez, with the collaboration of the community sociocultural project Quisicuaba, from the Centro Habana municipality in the capital.

"For me it is a great pleasure that after so many years, I can be a little more than contributing, enjoying a piece of this wonderful song," said renowned pianist Frank Fernández, one of the artists who participated in the filming, through the YouTube site of the Ministry of Culture.

With arrangements by flutist Orlando Valle and choral director Beatriz Corona, the song featured the participation of outstanding Cuban musicians such as Eduardo Sosa, Annie Garcés, Tony Ávila, Israel Rojas, Marta Campos, Ariel Barreiro, Raúl Torres, Zule Guerra, Annalie López, Kiki Corona and Augusto Blanca.

Author of emblematic compositions such as Ojalá, La Maza, El Unicornio Azul and Te doy una canción, Rodríguez has a catalog of about twenty studio albums, five live records and nearly a dozen compilation and tribute albums.

No hacen falta alas is a song composed in 1984 by the author and is part of the highly successful album Causas y azares, recorded in 1986 with the accompaniment of the group Afrocuba, with whom the artist worked in the 80s of the last century.

The career of the founder of the Cuban New Trova Movement is supported by important national and international recognitions, including the Alejo Carpentier Medal, the Félix Varela Order First Class, the Julio Antonio Mella Order, the Raúl Gómez García Medal and the Premio del Barrio. Also the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the National University of Córdoba (Argentina) and the distinction Honorary Academic of the Academy of Nursing Sciences of Vizcaya (Spain). Silvio, as his audience affectionately calls him, is one of the most recognized singer-songwriters in Cuba and in Spanish America.
