Elioveliz, "the Cuban José José", announces tour of Mexico

Young singer Elioveliz Pérez Romero, known as "the Cuban José José" for the similarity of his voice to that of the Mexican performer, announced on his Facebook profile a tour of the Aztec country.

"I am excited to announce that very soon I will be doing a national tour of Mexico", wrote the 22-year-old.

He also asked "all business owners and event promoters interested" to contact his representative within Mexico to schedule concerts and performances.

Pérez Romero went viral on social media for the similarity of his voice to that of the performer known as the "Prince of Song".

Recently, while filming a music video, the young man talked about his musical projects. In the interview, he described himself as "a young Cuban who aspires to be a great artist, both in Cuba and in the world" and that "he is inclined toward romantic music in the style of José José".

He also said that in the short term he would like to "improve as a singer", study music and perfect his vocal technique. "In the long term ―he also said―, I want what every artist would want: to be on big stages, for my music to be recognized internationally and to have an unconditional audience that supports me at all times".

During the interview he also referred to the fact of having gone viral on social media and gaining some immediate recognition. "I today don't know what is happening. Everything has evolved in a very, very rapid way. I never imagined it would be so explosive, and I never imagined being here, although I always wanted to. And now that I'm trending I'm going to take advantage of this moment, I'm going to give my best, and I'm always going to sing about love. Always", he declared.

Nevertheless, his fascination with José José notwithstanding, the young Cuban assured that he is also working on his "own brand". "We are working on unreleased songs and stay very alert because they are going to be beautiful ballads in the style of José [José]. The lyrics are by great artists", he said.
