Young singer Elio Veliz, known as the Cuban José José for the impressive similarity of his voice to that of the Mexican star, headed to Mexico in recent days, according to his social media posts.
Veliz shared on Instagram a photograph after his arrival in the Aztec land, accompanied by two people who came to pick him up at the airport. Also on the same social network he left a tender message to his mother, from whom he has separated to move forward.
"Mother, what can I tell you? We have never been apart, and today it's my turn to leave," his message began. "You better than anyone know that I am a messenger of love," he told her.
"I promise you that soon we will be together to never separate again. Don't forget that I made it: I am your musical idol. And you will hear my music in my absence while I will be taking it to every corner of this world," he said, before sending her an "I love you."

Although there are no further details on this matter, in the message he dedicates to his mother Elio hints that his departure to Mexico is related to his musical career, or at least, that he intends to continue with it after leaving Cuba.
Mexico, the birthplace of José José, seems like the most suitable destination to internationally boost Elio Veliz's career, and in fact the comments on the posts about his arrival suggest many opportunities and successes for him among Mexicans.
Elio rose to fame because of the similarity of his voice to that of José José, but after that initial surprise, he proved that he had much more to offer: including great talent and interpretive ability, and also great charisma.
In fact, while he is about to premiere his version of José José's song "Cuidado," he has just released the video "Quisiera," with lyrics and composition by Spanish singer-songwriter and producer Alejandro Jaen.
He is currently 22 years old and considers himself a defender of the ballad, according to what he said on the Cuban television program Donde si no.
His trip to Mexico comes surrounded by other good news: first, at the Summer Lucasnómetro he had a memorable presentation that earned him applause from the entire theater. Then, on Monday, he shared a video showing the plaque he received as winner of the Latino Awards Chicago 2024 in the category of International Artist of the Year, pop ballad revelation.
