The Teatro Metropólitan, in downtown Mexico City, will host on January 29 at 8:30 p.m. the return to the country of Cuban musician Eliades Ochoa with a concert in which he will present a bolero made together with his compatriot Pablo Milanés, "Como la nube se impone al sol", and attributed to Mexican composer Agustín Lara.
"Eliades remembers this song because he heard it from his father at family parties", the organizers of the event assured this Friday through a statement.
In this piece, Milanés and Ochoa "adjust their voices, adapt to all soft, intimate tones, with a catchy melody to perceive the message with ease", indicate the promoters of the event, while asserting that said song is an "excellently crafted bolero for any age".
"The production of this work was carried out in Havana and it is accompanied by a video. You can appreciate the unmistakable guitar of Eliades Ochoa, which invites you to enjoy this jewel on all digital platforms", they emphasize.
Ochoa is a guitarist, producer and star of the Buena Vista Social Club and leader of the Cuarteto Patria. He was born on June 22, 1946, in the town of Songo la Maya, in Santiago de Cuba, and began his career playing guitar self-taught at six years old.
This artist is qualified "as one of the most important Cuban son singers of all time and an important defender of traditional Cuban music", the organizers add.
Throughout his artistic career, Ochoa has recorded more than twenty works and has collaborated on more than thirty albums with important musicians, taking Cuban music around the world.
In 1999 he was nominated for the Oscars along with the musicians of Buena Vista Social Club for the homonymous film, directed by Wim Wenders.
"Cuban son owes much to the renowned star of Buena Vista Social Club Eliades Ochoa, who largely led this worldwide phenomenon", the statement concludes.
