The three-time Cuban Olympic champion Mireya Luis stands out today in the list of vice presidents of the Executive Committee of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), following the virtual holding of the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) elected three-time Cuban Olympic champion Mireya Luis as vice president of its Executive Committee.
According to the governing body, the multi-medal winning Caribbean athlete is one of three representatives of the Confederation of North Central America and the Caribbean (Norceca) selected in the group of 13 members of the Committee for the 2021-2024 Olympic cycle.
Luis, a member of the beach volleyball Commission at Norceca, was also elected to form the Board of Directors as an underrepresented gender, which will be headed by Serbian Vladimir Grbic.
Accompanying the Cuban woman on the FIVB executive board are Dominican Cristóbal Marte, titular of Norceca, in the position of first vice president, and Trinidadian Mushtaque Mohammed, heading the development commission.
In the Commissions and Councils of the world volleyball organization, Norceca is also represented by executives from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Honduras, integrating key areas such as legal, finance, medical, marketing and development, among others.
