Cuban Ana de Armas has become one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces and many new projects want her on board.

Throughout her career she has accumulated films such as Blade Runner 2049 (2017), The Red Sparrow (2019), The Invisible Agent (2022) and Blonde (2022), the feature film where she played Marilyn Monroe and for which she received a nomination for an Oscar and Golden Globes as best actress.

Regarding her upcoming work on the big screen, three appear on her profile on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) platform: Ballerina, which is already in post-production and will be released in 2024, Origin of Species and Waiting for Helen, both in the pre-production phase.

About the latter, the Caribbean actress's involvement had been known for five years, but little else has come to light about that film.

On the other hand, Ballerina has captured the attention of several media outlets. Esquire speaks of "the first spin-off film of the John Wick franchise that was filmed in late 2022", which will have "more or less the plot of all John Wick movies and 99.99 percent of action movies". There will be murders, revenge and gunfights.

Meanwhile, little has been said about Origin of Species, a project that will be directed by Oscar-winning Ron Howard and, besides the Cuban actress, the cast will include Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Daniel Brühl.

According to some sources, filming will begin in Australia in late 2023. About its plot, it has been revealed that it is based on a true story, adapted by Noah Ping, and that "it will be about two different perspectives of the same incident in the context of a beautiful and unique island in the Galápagos".

It will be, according to Deadline, cited by OK Diario, "a dark story of murder and survival, set among a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galápagos. They are all seeking the answer to the question that always torments everyone: what is the meaning of life?".

In charge of the film's production are Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder, as well as production companies Imagine Entertainment, owned by Howard, plus CAA Media Finance and AGC Studios, of Stuart Ford.
