Cuban singer and host Alfredito Rodríguez is back on television, this time with a new program that will premiere soon on UnivistaTV.
The artist was a guest on the "Show de Carlucho" where he announced that he will have a weekly segment every Thursday to talk about the history of Cuban television and share his experiences alongside renowned figures in the arts on the island.
Alfredito, 70 years old, recalled that his first time on television was in 1965 in a program called "Tele Fiesta," directed by Raúl Pérez Sánchez. "I was just a kid," he says.
Without interruption, everything started from '67 onward with the show Música y Estrellas, by Manolo Rifá. About those years he said he felt a lot of yearning, a lot of nostalgia. "It was a television like I say, clean in every sense,"
"There's a lot of history from television programs that people don't know about, that stays in the hallways, why don't we put together a segment with these topics," Carlucho said to the interpreter of "Sagitario" right there on the show.
"This ultimately stays and travels, and people find out, and it's so ours that there's no one who has told it, maybe someone has written it, but hasn't told it, and to you who likes to say things the way you think them, I would like for you to tell us about that television that many of us never knew," he said.
Alfredito, for his part, said that he would like to, especially to talk about what "I have touched, what I have felt, the people I have known."
"Alfredo's Thursdays, here on Univista TV," Carlucho concluded.
The artist, who has lived in the city of Miami with his family since 2012, said that he had a space every month at the Polynesian Restaurant. "Every month I perform there, it's a very intimate place, with a very wonderful audience, very lively. I always perform the songs that I have created, that I wrote and numbers that were written for me and very important songs in music," he commented.
"Being with you at a concert is having the opportunity to travel through many kinds of music, music that breaks hearts, music to fall in love to, music to remember by, and also music to travel with, because through Alfredito's music one can already remember moments lived," the comedian commented in turn.
Alfredo Rodríguez, born in Havana in 1951, was in charge of hosting and directing popular music and interview programs such as "Your Night with Alfredo" and "In Family with Alfredo"
In Miami, where he has lived since 2012, he worked on a program on Radio and Television Martí. In 2018 the City of Miami proclaimed November 10 as the Day of Alfredo "Alfredito" Rodríguez. According to Mayor Francis Suárez, his "perseverance, passion for music, personality and charisma" in addition to his more than five decades of dedication to art make him deserving of this tribute.
